Apollo Hospitals promoters cut debt with ₹1,490 cr stake sale

The promoter group of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd (AHEL), led by Managing Director Suneeta Reddy, has sold 1,897,239 equity shares — amounting to a 1.3% stake — in a transaction worth ₹1,490 crore. The stake sale was executed via block deal on August 22, 2025, at ₹7,850 per share, representing a 1% discount to the previous day’s closing price.

The proceeds will be used to pare outstanding debt of the promoter group. Following this transaction, their holding in AHEL falls from 29.3% to 28%, while pledged shares as a percentage of total holdings drop sharply from 13.1% to around 2%. This fulfils a prior commitment to investors regarding pledge reduction.

Suneeta Reddy’s personal holding stood at 3.36% in the June quarter. The company clarified there are no immediate plans for further stake sales, reaffirming the group’s long-term focus on Apollo Hospitals, Apollo Health Co, and Apollo Health and Lifestyle.

Morgan Stanley India Company acted as the selling broker for the deal. On Friday, AHEL shares closed nearly flat at ₹7,920.75 on the BSE.
